"Tip O' Neil Irish Diaspora Award Winner" Visits Keep

On Saturday 21st last it was an honour and delight to welcome Fraser Doherty of Super Jam and Beer 52 worldwide successes on a specially arranged visit to the Keep to inspect and discuss our progress and visions for the project. Fraser who is Scottish was awarded the prestigious Tip O' Neil Irish Diaspora Award at a special ceremony on Friday evening (20th) last in recognition of his outstanding achievements and for his interest in and support for the Irish community abroad.

Along with members of the Donegal Tip O' Neil Diaspora committee, umbrellas at the ready, we had a "walk about" and chat about the project in the vicinity of the picturesque Castle Bridge, the Keep and along the Crana riverside walk. Fraser and his Mum and Dad got a firsthand insight into our local history and heritage from members of the committee and our project manager Ronan O' Doherty. Local man Pat Kane related some interesting stories about past happenings involving the Keep which were very well received indeed!

We must express our sincere thanks to Councillor Nicholas Crossan, Chair of the Tip O' Neil Irish Diaspora Awards, for his invaluable help in arranging this very enjoyable visit by all concerned and for his continued support for this and all similar local Buncrana initiatives. Well done Nicholas keep up your good work which is very much appreciated!
