Keep the Keep Project

PHASE 1 - FEASIBILITY STUDY

Deed of Guardianship 28th March 1944.jpg

We are currently engaged with the National Monuments Service, the Office of Public Works, Failte Ireland, Donegal County Council and the Inishowen Development Partnership to complete a feasibility study. This study will include inputs from Conservation Architect, Archaeologist, Laser Scan Specialists, Structural Engineer and Quantity Surveyor combined to produce the Conservation Plan which will inform how best to preserve the building into the future and provide future proposals for development as a cultural heritage attraction.

STAGE 2 - DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION

Subject to the approval of the project, archaeological investigations under licence will begin around the site, to ascertain whether any disturbance to the area will be of detrimental effect to the Keep. The development of design proposals will be implemented together with Interpretative Planning and Costs Planning for submission for state approval.

PHASE 3 - BUILD

The Construction Phase

Assuming approval is granted the project will then progress to the implementation build stage, the main contractor will be appointed and the heavy lifting begins, and the construction of a cultural heritage centre will finally start leading to the reopening of the Keep and development of the adjacent site.
